Laburnum House Education Books has donated books which will be used as part of the school’s ‘Give a Child a Book for Christmas’ campaign in which all Year 7 students will be given a book to open and enjoy throughout the Christmas period and beyond.

With a range of titles provided, this generous donation will enable the school library to give students a festive treat.  Laburnum House Education Books has been working with schools for over 25 years and offers fiction and nonfiction titles from pre-school, as well as accelerated reading books.

Student librarians from Years 7 to 9 have been giving up their break and lunch times to wrap, label and deliver all the books to classrooms.

Learning Resource Centre Administrator, Miss Smith, said “The Birkenhead Park School library would like to thank Nicky Hutchinson and all the staff at Laburnum House Educational Books for contributing to our ‘Give a Child a Book for Christmas’ campaign. It has been a huge success, making sure all our year 7 students were given a fiction book to open and enjoy in the Christmas break.

“A big thank you must also go out to our fantastic group of librarians from years 7, 8 and 9 whom have given up their break and lunch times. A great team effort by all - well done. I am sure all our year 7s will enjoy this festive library treat.”
