The school is celebrating some of the best results in its history with a 100% pass rate in Chemistry and a 93% pass rate in Spanish just some of the highlights. What’s more the school is delighted that the number of students achieving the government gold standard EBAC qualification of traditionally difficult academic subjects has also increased significantly. The number of students securing A*- C grades in Maths and English is at an all-time high.

Headteacher Helen Johnson said: “I am so proud of the hard work and determination our Year 11 students have shown this year and it is wonderful to see their efforts rewarded with such fantastic results.

“These results are a testament to the team effort of staff and students and show The Birkenhead Park School continues to provide a high quality education and we value the support given to us by Wirral Academy Trust.”

The increase in the number of A* to C grades for Maths is particularly pleasing to see as staff continue to work closely with The Sixth Form College Birkenhead, on the five year ‘Wirral Maths Project’ to implement best practice.

The project was launched in September 2015 and already appears to be yielding results. It centres on repetition, creating schemes of work that focus on students constantly revisiting areas of work throughout the year in order to ensure they retain the knowledge.

Headteacher Helen Johnson continued: “We are committed to supporting our students in every way possible and where areas of best practice are highlighted, we work hard to ensure they are implemented across the school so that all our students benefit from the highest standards of education. The Wirral Maths project is still in its early stages but I am pleased to see it is already having an impact as our results today prove.”
