Student Council

At The Birkenhead Park School we have a very active student voice and student council. The student council meets at least every half term and meets with the Head of School on a regular basis to discuss the issues that matter to students across the whole school.

By extending the opportunities for our students to represent their year groups, they will gain invaluable experience as well as contributing to the long term success of the school.

The latest Student Council Handbook can be viewed below:

Junior Leadership Team

Like our Student Council, our Junior Leadership Team meets regularly to discuss important issues and share ideas. The team is made up of our Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, our Equality and Diversity Lead, and four student leaders who each represent one of our school values: Positivity, Ambition, Resilience and Thoughtfulness. Together, they represent The Birkenhead Park School and play an active role in many aspects of school life. This includes delivering assemblies - most recently our Black History Month presentations, where they explored key moments in history and shared thoughtful and powerful reflections.

Sports Leaders

As a School Games host site, we have a large and active Sports Leadership team, with over 55 Sports Leaders from Years 7 to 11. These pupils help to run more than 25 festivals and competitions for surrounding schools within our cluster and across the wider Wirral.

Sports Leaders receive training in a range of areas, including sports delivery and officiating, and pupils in Year 9 and above can complete accredited leadership courses.

Last year, our leaders even designed and delivered their own festivals and activities for local primary schools, demonstrating creativity, confidence and leadership.

Labour MP for Birkenhead Alison McGovern Visit

Our Student Council and Junior Leadership Team recently met with Labour MP for Birkenhead, Alison McGovern, to share their ideas on how they would like Birkenhead to better cater to their needs and aspirations. The meeting gave our students a clearer understanding of how their voices can influence real change.
