Our competitive members of staff donned their bibs and entered the netball court to play off against each other, all in the name of raising money for a cause very close to their hearts – ‘Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way’.

Last year, 14-year-old Will Allen, the son of School support staff team member, Helen, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour that could not be operated upon. Although radiotherapy treatment initially shrank the tumour, further treatment hasn’t been successful and Will’s family are now trying to raise £80,000 for him to travel to Bristol to undergo new innovative treatment that isn’t available on the NHS at this point. The treatment will improve Will’s life in the hope that he can return to school and have fun again.

Our willing teams of teachers and support staff stretched some aching (and ageing) bones and took to the netball court, all in the name of Will’s cause. Between the fun sporting activity, a collection after the match, and our extremely game caretaker’s stint in some alarming outfits (!), a generous sum of money has been gathered.

The Birkenhead Park School have raised a brilliant total of £1300 so far, but there’s still a long way to go. Click here to visit Will’s JustGiving page and donate to a tremendous cause for a very brave young man.
