Personal Development at The Birkenhead Park School
23 October 2025

At The Birkenhead Park School, the personal development of our students is a key priority. We are committed to ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to flourish, both academically and personally, and to leave school as a confident, capable and well-rounded individual.
Our curriculum extends far beyond the academic and vocational subjects on offer. It includes a wide range of strategies, programmes and experiences designed to support the development of students’ wider personal skills, equipping them to succeed in all aspects of modern life, within and beyond school.
The personal development offer at BPS includes high-quality careers education and guidance, a rich SMSC curriculum which includes RE (Religious Education) that imparts knowledge, a comprehensive PSHE programme, and age-appropriate RSE (Relationships and Sex Education). Students are also provided with numerous opportunities to explore a variety of topics such as fundamental British values, relationships and health education, and ethical and cultural awareness - building character, resilience, and respect.
Over the past two months, students have already enjoyed a variety of enriching experiences, including a music trip to Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), an enthralling history trip to London, highly-informative workshops tackling a mixture of issues, a focused Careers Day for our Year 11s, and more. There are plenty of upcoming opportunities already in the diary for the rest of the academic year, such as theatre visits, PGL outdoor adventure, and a remarkable trip to New York in Spring 2026, alongside many other exciting experiences.
Our after-school extracurricular offer also continues to grow, with clubs running each week that cater to a wide range of interests – from football to film, computing to crochet, drama to Duolingo, and so much more, there is truly something for everyone! These activities not only give students the chance to pursue their passions, but also help them build teamwork and leadership skills and form new friendships.
Miss Clarke, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We pride ourselves on all the experiences we offer at BPS. They enable students to become confident, discover their talents, and develop the skills that will help them succeed in life.”
The Birkenhead Park School is proud to be a school on the up, and we are committed to continuing to provide our young people with the opportunities they need to grow, achieve, and be ready for the future.
