This month students will have access to a brand new remote learning platform so that they can continue their studies regardless of whether they are in the classroom or at home.

Any students that are self-isolating or at home for any covid-19 related reason can now access the exact same lessons as they would at school through Microsoft Teams. This includes live lessons (following their normal timetable), homework, and additional support such as curriculum resources, recorded lessons and pre-planned lesson resources. This blended approach means that as far as possible students will be following our standard curriculum.

All students now have full access to Microsoft Teams, and it can be accessed through any device with an internet connection (phone, tablet, laptop, desktop), although we recommend students use a laptop or desktop.

Miss Clarke, Assistant Headteacher and co-ordinator of the initiative, says: “Remote learning will now be an integral part of life here at BPS and we are delighted to be able to offer this fantastic provision to our students. At the beginning of November, we had a really positive launch with our remote learning platform and we are already seeing the benefits and impact it is having on whole school teaching and learning.

“Teachers are still able to provide a high quality curriculum despite any challenges we face and students are keen to ask for support with their work. The implementation of this programme will make a huge difference to students’ confidence and resilience across all subjects. We are really proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward where this can be developed in the future.”

Tammy, a Year 11 student who has been using the new platform, says: “Microsoft Teams is great; all the lessons are easy to find, I have been uploading all my homework and the teachers help me when I have any questions. Last week I took part in some live lessons they were really useful, and I’m happy with the help I’ve had so far.”
